BOURNE — Board of Health reviews Southside Fire Station septic design without voting approval. Health Director Kaitlyn Shea questioned a nitrogen-reducing Nitrex system's 905-gallon-per-day design capacity against a calculated need of 665 gallons, citing potential unnecessary costs for taxpayers. Chair Robert Collett and members William Meier and Donald Ellis pressed engineers Pio Lombardo and Matthew Collins on system maintenance, operator availability, and performance at lower capacity.
Owner's Project Manager Richard Pomroy offered to provide a cost-comparison study. No formal motion or vote was recorded; the board clarified that conceptual plan review does not constitute approval, and a contracted septic installer would submit the actual permit application.
