Bourne Completes Recreation Area Memorials Project
BOURNE — The town has completed its Recreation Area Memorials Project, giving residents an online way to explore photos, family histories and digital archives documenting the people honored at Bourne's parks. Meanwhile, the Jonathan Bourne Public Library hosted a full acoustic tribute to the Beatles' "Abbey Road" today, and several town boards convene this week including a joint session between the School Committee and Board of Selectmen.

The Recreation Area Memorials Project is complete, the town announced, giving residents an online way to explore photos, family histories and digital archives tied to the namesakes of Bourne recreation areas, including Chester Park and Keith Field. The project compiles historical material connected to the parks and makes it accessible to the public through the town's website.
SCHOOLS
Bourne Public Schools' calendar picks up this week with a Scholastic Book Fair at Bournedale Elementary School beginning Monday, September 21, and running through the week. The School Committee's Policy Subcommittee meets Tuesday, September 22, at 3:30 p.m., followed that evening by a joint session between the Bourne School Committee and the Board of Selectmen at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, 239 Main St., Buzzards Bay, from 7 to 8 p.m.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Jonathan Bourne Public Library hosted musician Pamela Means today for a solo acoustic performance of the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album in its entirety, marking the record's September 26, 1969, release anniversary. The free show, in the library's main area, required no registration. The library also held a Leafy Gnome Fall staff craft session Saturday, led by staff member Judy, with registration required for the seasonal program.
COMING UP
Several town boards meet this week: the Board of Registrars, Capital Outlay Committee and Finance Committee on Monday, September 21, and the Historical Commission and ISWM Building Committee on Tuesday, September 22. The town's Dancing Under the Stars event is also set for Tuesday, September 22.
At the library, Babies & Books and Terrific Toddlers story times run Monday, September 21, followed Tuesday by Intergenerational Story Hour and an after-school bat craft for kids. Looking toward the weekend of September 26, the Breakthrough T1D Ride, Autumn Escape Bike Trek and SeeSide Walkfest are all scheduled, with the library's Meditations on the Beach program returning Sunday, September 27.
