Barlows Landing, Shore Road intersection now a four-way stop

Bourne officials rolled out a new traffic pattern at a busy Bourne Village-area intersection this week and briefly opened public cooling centers as a heat advisory swept through the region, while Patuisset Beach reopened for swimming after a closure.

TOWN HALL

The intersection of Barlows Landing Road and Shore Road became a four-way stop effective Monday, June 29, the town announced via its News Flash service, a change aimed at improving safety at the crossing. The News Flash also confirmed that Patuisset Beach has reopened for swimming, though it did not specify the reason for the earlier closure.

Separately, the town operated cooling centers at the Bourne Police Department, 35 Armory Road, from June 30 through July 2 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on July 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., under a regional heat advisory. Town Hall's public meeting calendar shows a busy stretch ahead, with the Board of Health, Bourne Recreation Authority, Shore & Harbor Committee, and Select Board all convening in the coming days.

SCHOOLS

Bourne Public Schools has its next Bourne PTA meeting scheduled at the Bourne Middle School Media Center, part of a summer calendar that also includes a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee session held remotely on Google Meets, and an August School Committee meeting at Bourne High School.
