Bourne Opens Cooling Center, Closes Patuisset Beach Amid Heat Advisory

DATELINE: BOURNE

A heat advisory has prompted the town to open a cooling center at the Bourne Police Department starting tomorrow, while Patuisset Beach remains closed to swimmers and a new four-way stop went into effect this morning at Barlows Landing and Shore roads.

TOWN HALL

With a heat wave bearing down on the region, the town is opening a cooling center at the Bourne Police Department, 35 Armory Road, beginning Monday, June 30. The center will be available June 30 through July 2 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on July 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents who need relief from the heat are encouraged to stop in during those hours.

Patuisset Beach is temporarily closed for swimming and all water activities. No timeline for reopening has been announced; residents should check the town's alert system for updates before heading out.

Effective today, the intersection of Barlows Landing Road and Shore Road has been converted to a four-way stop. Drivers approaching the intersection from all four directions should expect a change in traffic flow and plan accordingly.

Town Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3. The town notes that curbside pickup service will not be affected by the closure.
