Bourne Schools Gear Up For New Year With Coaches Night, Sports

BOURNE — Bourne Public Schools begins its run-up to the 2026-2027 school year this week, with Bourne High School's "Meet the Coaches" night, the start of fall sports practices and a two-day new teacher orientation all landing on the district calendar over the next two weeks.

Bourne High School hosts "Meet the Coaches" on Tuesday, August 18, from 6 to 7 p.m., giving families a first look at the staff leading fall athletics. Fall sports practices begin districtwide on Monday, August 24.

The district's new teacher orientation runs two days, August 25 and 26, as incoming staff prepare for the opening of school. The School Committee's Policy Subcommittee meets August 25 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Bourne Intermediate School holds a "Getting Ready for School" session for families on August 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 70 Trowbridge Road, alongside a separate BIS Welcome Day the same date. A districtwide staff in-service day follows on August 31.

COMING UP

The Select Board meets Tuesday, August 18, and the Conservation Commission holds a public meeting Thursday, August 20, both at Town Hall. On the community calendar, Meditations on the Beach returns Sunday, August 16, Dancing Under the Stars is set for Tuesday, August 18, and the Canal Region Farmers Market and Concerts by the Canal run Thursday, August 20.
