Bourne Schools Kick Off Back-to-School Week With Sports, Orientations
BOURNE — Bourne Public Schools begins its run-up to the new academic year this week, with fall sports practices, new-teacher orientation and welcome events at two schools all landing before Labor Day.
SCHOOLS Fall sports practices open districtwide on Monday, Aug. 24. The next day, new teachers report for the first of a two-day orientation that runs through Wednesday, Aug. 26, when Bourne Intermediate School also holds its Welcome Day and a "Getting Ready for School" session for students and families from 2 to 4 p.m. The School Committee's Policy Subcommittee meets Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The calendar continues into the following week: staff report for an in-service day Monday, Aug. 31, the same day Bournedale Elementary School holds its Welcome Back event from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The town's summer event calendar continues this week. Dancing Under the Stars is set for Tuesday, Aug. 25, and the Canal Region Farmers Market and Concerts by the Canal return Thursday, Aug. 27, along the Cape Cod Canal.
