Bourne Sets July 9 Deadline For Town Meeting Moderator Applicants

BOURNE — The Town of Bourne's deadline to apply for the vacant Town Meeting Moderator position falls today, July 9, while officials also reopened Patuisset Beach for swimming and shifted a Barlows Landing Road intersection to a four-way stop.

The Town of Bourne is accepting Letters of Interest to fill the vacancy of Town Meeting Moderator, with applications due today, July 9, 2026, ahead of the next Annual Election, according to the town's News Flash feed. The position oversees Town Meeting proceedings, a key civic role in Bourne's town-meeting form of government.

Separately, the town announced that Patuisset Beach has reopened for swimming, per the News Flash feed, following what had been a closure. Officials also confirmed that, effective Monday, June 29, the intersection of Barlows Landing Road and Shore Road became a permanent four-way stop, a traffic pattern change flagged on the town homepage as well as in the News Flash.

SCHOOLS

Bourne Public Schools is moving ahead with preschool enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year, according to a featured announcement on the district's website. The district's calendar also shows upcoming meetings, including a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee session on July 21 and a School Committee meeting set for August 5 at Bourne High School.
