Bourne Splash Pad To Close For The Season September 14

BOURNE — The Bourne Community Splash Pad at Buzzards Bay Park will close for the 2026 season on Monday, September 14, the town announced, marking the formal end of the summer recreation season even as attention downtown turns to two open volunteer board seats and the start of the school year.

The Bourne Community Splash Pad at Buzzards Bay Park will shut down for the year on Monday, September 14, according to a Town Hall News Flash. The closure caps a summer season for the free water feature, a popular draw for families at the Buzzards Bay park.

The town also has two municipal board seats open for residents interested in serving: one on the School Committee and one on the Planning Board, each for a term running through the 2027 Town Election. Applications for both are due Wednesday, September 2, by 4 p.m.

Bourne Public Schools' welcome week continues Monday, August 31, with a districtwide staff in-service day, a Bournedale Elementary welcome back event from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and a Bourne Middle School welcome event from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The Finance Committee also meets Monday. Staff orientation and a Bourne High School welcome event for grades 8 and 9 follow Tuesday, September 1.

Classes for grades 1 through 12 begin Wednesday, September 2, the same evening the School Committee meets at Bourne High School from 6 to 8 p.m. Kindergarten's first day is Thursday, September 3. Applications for the open School Committee and Planning Board seats are due September 2. The Buzzards Bay splash pad closes for the season September 14.
