Bourne Teachers Return Monday, Starting Countdown To Sept. 2 Opening
BOURNE — Bourne Public Schools staff report back to buildings Monday for in-service training, opening a four-day countdown to the first day of classes for grades 1 through 12 on Wednesday, Sept. 2, while the Finance Committee meets the same evening and two town board application deadlines close out the week.
TOWN HALL The Finance Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, Aug. 31. Applications for the town's two open board seats, one on the Planning Board and one on the School Committee, remain due by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2; both seats carry terms expiring at the 2027 town election.
SCHOOLS Staff in-service training runs all day Monday, Aug. 31, across the district. Bournedale Elementary School holds its welcome event that afternoon from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and Bourne Middle School's welcome event follows from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Staff orientation continues Tuesday, Sept. 1, the same day Bourne High School hosts a welcome event for grades 8 and 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Classes for grades 1 through 12 begin Wednesday, Sept. 2, with the School Committee meeting that evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bourne High School. Kindergarten's first day follows Thursday, Sept. 3.
