Bourne Historical Commission approved demolition of a summer cottage. The commission held a public hearing on the circa 1943 structure at 6 Massasoit Avenue, Pocasset, with Chair Neil F. Langille presiding over six members.
Owner representative Christopher Ellis explained that demolition was necessary for new construction, saying relocation was infeasible due to road constraints and potential marshland damage. Member Deborah M. Burgess expressed concern about loss of historic cottages in the neighborhood.
The motion passed 4-1, with Jean Campbell not voting as she arrived late. The commission also voted unanimously to send an appreciation letter to Matt Sawicki of the Department of Public Works for moving a historic bank pediment to the old police station for storage.
