Conservation Commission responds to storm damage, plans beach management

Bourne Conservation Commission approved permits for three Maritime Academy projects and heard storm damage reports.

Conservation Commission · Meeting of March 5, 2026

Bourne Conservation Commission approved permits for three Maritime Academy projects and heard storm damage reports. Chair Robert Gray and the commission voted to approve Order of Conditions for the Maritime Academy's parking lot expansion at 14 Taylor Road and amended permits for dredging and dock work at 101 Academy Drive, both involving coastal resources and flood zones. Conservation Agent Stephanie Fitch reported that winter storms damaged coastal areas including Fisher Lane and Indian Trail, with emergency repairs possibly needed by April 1 due to nesting Piping Plovers.

The town is planning a Beach Management Plan for Sagamore Beach access ramps with the Department of Engineering and Department of Natural Resources.
