Ferretti re-elected Chair in contested vote

Bourne's Select Board re-elected Melissa Ferretti as Chair for a second year in a 3-2 vote despite objections from two members.

Select Board · Meeting of May 26, 2026

Bourne's Select Board re-elected Melissa Ferretti as Chair for a second year in a 3-2 vote despite objections from two members. Ferretti, Vice Chair Anne-Marie Siroonian, and Member Jeanne Azarovitz voted yes; Member Peter J. Meier and Clerk Mary Jane Mastrangelo voted no.

Mastrangelo cited concerns about multi-year chair terms, while Siroonian argued continuation would allow Ferretti to complete her agenda. The Board then voted 4-1 to elect Siroonian as Vice Chair, with Mastrangelo voting no, and unanimously to elect Mastrangelo as Clerk. In related business, the Board voted unanimously to approve annual committee appointments and appointed Dave Worthington to the Conservation Commission as associate member with a term ending June 30, 2027.

Loretta Snover's appointment to Socializing With Our Peers was removed from the consent agenda due to an administrative error.
