New Four-Way Stop Takes Effect At Barlows Landing And Shore Road
BOURNE — Town officials have converted the intersection of Barlows Landing Road and Shore Road into a four-way stop, a change now in effect as summer traffic continues to move through the village.

The town's News Flash feed confirms that as of Monday, June 29, the intersection at Barlows Landing and Shore Road became a four-way stop, a change intended to improve safety at a busy summer crossing point near the beach areas. Drivers accustomed to the old right-of-way pattern should expect a period of adjustment as the new stop signs take hold.
Town Hall also continues to promote several open board vacancies and has posted FY2026 property record cards for residents seeking updated assessment information. The town's May 19 Annual Town Election results remain posted for residents who have not yet reviewed the outcome.
Several public meetings are on the calendar this week, including the Bourne Community Engagement Committee, the Library Building Committee, and a Zoning Board of Appeals hearing, all scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, along with the North Sagamore Water District and the Conservation Commission on Thursday, August 6.
SCHOOLS
Bourne Public Schools is moving into late-summer preparation mode, with several dates now posted for the run-up to the new year. The Bourne PTA will meet at the Bourne Middle School Media Center on Wednesday, August 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Bourne High School will hold a "Meet the Coaches" event on Tuesday, August 18, from 6 to 7 p.m.
The district has also set Monday, August 24, as the start of fall sports, with New Teacher Orientation running August 25 and 26, and Bourne Intermediate School's Welcome Day and "Getting Ready for School" sessions also scheduled for August 26.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Jonathan Bourne Public Library continues its regular schedule this week, open until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and until 5 p.m. Friday, with digital resources including Libby, Kanopy, Hoopla, and the Cape Cod Times archive available to cardholders.
Community events on the town calendar include the Canal Region Farmers Market and Concerts by the Canal on Thursday, August 6, and "Meditations on the Beach" set for Sunday, August 9.
