Bourne Select Board approves $1M-plus road betterment for May town meeting. The board voted unanimously to place an article on the warrant to authorize $1,038,373.70 in borrowing for repairs and resurfacing of Tara Terrace, Eldridge Street, and Eldridge Street Extension in Monument Beach. Engineering confirmed both roads met the statutory requirement of more than 50 percent of linear frontage signatures from abutting property owners.
The cost will be repaid through betterment assessments under town bylaw and state law. The project includes full depth reclamation, milling and overlay work, and drainage structure repair on approximately one mile of deteriorated pavement built in the 1980s and early 1990s.
