Select Board delays South Side Fire Station bidding pending special legislation
Select Board · Meeting of March 3, 2026
Bourne Select Board suspends South Side Fire Station bidding pending state special legislation. The board voted unanimously to delay the project after a legal defect in a prior election warrant invalidated both the election and contingent Town Meeting vote, according to bond counsel Brenda McDonough. Finance Director Erica Flemming reported a $500,000 project deficit.
The board also unanimously approved utility pole relocation on Lincoln Avenue and renewed the Indian Trail Homeowners Association license for coastal erosion protection. In budget discussion, Upper Cape Technical School's FY27 assessment rose to $4,438,051 after 11 students with Buzzards Bay zip codes but Wareham residency were recoded; the board authorized drafting a letter to the state requesting recalculation.
