Select Board · Meeting of July 7, 2026

BOURNE — Select Board kept farmers market approval, referred food truck policy to subcommittee. The controversy involved whether organizers of the Canal Region Farmers Market should require separate approval when adding food trucks to the 2026 renewal. Event organizer Stephanie Viva said trucks were disclosed in applications and reviewed by departments; the Chamber of Commerce objected on economic grounds.

The board voted 5-0 to maintain the March 3 approval for this season while directing a subcommittee to develop food truck policy. The board also voted 5-0 to approve 3.49 million dollars in Chapter 90 state funding, including 2.77 million dollars for Shore Road paving and 297,000 dollars for Singing Bridge design. The board approved 5-0 a new Recreation scholarship program funded by donations and voted 4-0 with one abstention to add a parking space at the Veterans Memorial Community Center.
