Bourne Select Board convenes hearing on FY27 budget with revised school assessments. Town Administrator Marlene McCollem reported that 20 students were removed from Upper Cape Tech's enrollment, reducing Bourne's vocational school assessment to $4,322,089, a $115,962 decrease from prior calculations. Bourne Public Schools' FY27 operating budget stands at $28,265,695, up 1.97 percent, with superintendent Dr.
Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou citing growing out-of-district special education costs as a major pressure point. McCollem recommended reducing Bourne Public Schools' budget by $478,532 to cover a School Committee-approved deficit and transferring $470,000 from Free Cash to address an over-$800,000 Snow and Ice shortfall. The board indicated it would revisit whether prior-year student overpayments to Upper Cape Tech are recoverable under state law.
