Select Board requests Upper Cape Tech enrollment data in charter school billing dispute

Select Board · Meeting of March 17, 2026

Bourne Select Board demands Upper Cape Tech enrollment and billing records. Town Counsel Bryan Bertram explained that state law grants the board authority to request data underlying the regional school's annual charges after enrollment changes reduced Bourne's assessment by approximately 250,000 dollars; however, 12 additional students remain in dispute with Wareham declining to claim them. The board voted unanimously to request the information through formal letter, scheduled a follow-up analysis for March 19, and approved unanimous votes on a one-day liquor license for G&S Marine on March 21, library donations totaling 70 dollars, a 15,055 dollar Cape Cod Foundation grant, six seasonal business renewals, and four special event requests.

Town Administrator Marlene McCollem reported the South Side Fire Station borrowing bill has passed both state chambers and been sent to the Governor ahead of an April 14 deadline.
