Bourne Council on Aging discussed community feedback identifying senior service gaps. Focus groups revealed that transportation between the town's two sides is a major need, with residents on the Cape side also seeking additional programs. The community needs assessment has achieved a 32 percent response rate, among Massachusetts' top three, and will be completed in October or November.
Director Debora Oliviere outlined plans to hire an additional bus driver to address the transportation gap, while noting space and staffing constraints limit expansion of Cape side programming. The council also accepted the resignation of member Wendy Welsh and voted to thank her for service.
