Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of May 6, 2026
BOURNE — Zoning Board of Appeals denied an enforcement appeal on aquaculture facility. The board voted 5-0 to uphold the Building Commissioner's 2021 permit for Scallop Bay Shellfish Company's aquaculture operation at 18 Wings Neck Road in Pocasset, rejecting neighbors' arguments that the conversion from boat storage constituted a prohibited use. Chair James Beyer noted the structure predated the appellants' 2023 purchase of their abutting property.
In other business, the board voted unanimously to clarify a prior decision on Lighthouse Realty Trust's property, specifying that only commercial wedding events are prohibited, and continued a hearing on a 300-unit mixed-income development to June 3.
