Bourne Schools Set August Dates For PTA, Coaches Night, Fall Sports

Bourne Public Schools rolled out its return-to-fall calendar this week, penciling in a PTA meeting, a Meet the Coaches night at the high school and the start of fall sports practice, while the town's community calendar adds three more dates to the August lineup.

SCHOOLS

The Bourne PTA meets Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Bourne Middle School media center, according to the district calendar. Bourne High School follows with a Meet the Coaches night Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m., and fall sports practices officially begin Monday, Aug. 24. The district also has new teacher orientation set for Aug. 25 and 26, alongside a welcome day at Bourne Intermediate School on Aug. 26.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The town's event calendar brings Dancing Under the Stars on Tuesday, Aug. 11, followed by the Canal Region Farmers Market and Concerts by the Canal on Thursday, Aug. 13. Meditations on the Beach is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16, rounding out a busy stretch of outdoor community programming heading into the back half of August.

COMING UP

Bourne's municipal calendar is full over the next several days. The Historical Commission and the South Side Fire Station Building Committee both meet Tuesday, Aug. 11. The Affordable Housing Trust and Bourne Housing Partnership hold their previously announced joint session Wednesday, Aug. 12, the same day the Board of Health meets in hybrid format. The Planning Board meets Thursday, Aug. 13, and the Select Board convenes Tuesday, Aug. 18. Applications for the open Planning Board and School Committee seats remain due by 4 p.m. on Sept. 2.
