Bourne Planning Board Unanimously Approves Upper Cape Tech Shop Building

BOURNE — June 11, 2026 — Bourne Planning Board unanimously approves a $2 million state-funded shop building at Upper Cape Cod Technical School. The board voted 7-0 at its June 11 meeting to approve Site Plan Review No. 520 for a new approximately 5,300-square-foot horticultural classroom and shop building at 220 Sandwich Road, funded by a two-year state expansion grant. Members flagged that the submitted materials lacked a traditional site plan, with one member noting she could not determine drainage impacts or utility routing from what was provided: "I'm looking at it going, there's no site plan." Approval came with 12 conditions, including deferrals to the building commissioner, the Massachusetts DEP, and the fire department, plus a requirement for an as-built plan before occupancy — a condition the applicant acknowledged was not satisfied for a prior campus building. The board also discussed a concept for a four-level parking garage and transit hub at the West End Rotary, with formal deliberation set for June 25.
