Select Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026

Bourne Select Board reaffirmed 4-0 support for donating a landlocked Scenic Highway parcel to MassDOT ahead of Fall Town Meeting. Chair Melissa Ferretti called the special workshop after a prior recommendation vote shifted to 3-2, and member Jeanne Azarovitz reversed her opposition back to yes after MassDOT addressed her concerns about Keith Field. Clerk Mary Jane Mastrangelo noted the Commonwealth paid Bourne just $1.1 million in PILOT funds in fiscal 2026 despite owning more acreage in town than private owners combined, and said she wants "something that's going to have some teeth" before any final agreement with MassDOT.

The 0.9-acre parcel is assessed at $51,900. MassDOT officials confirmed the Sagamore Bridge replacement is now fully funded, including a $956 million federal grant, with construction set to begin in late 2027. The board barred public comment during the workshop and declined to vote on directing town counsel toward a formal agreement with MassDOT.
