BOURNE — The Select Board voted 5-0 to authorize a federal de minimis letter clearing a shared-use bicycle and pedestrian path near Keith Field. MassDOT Executive Director Luisa Paiewonsky told the board the agency withdrew its proposal to build formal parking across Sandwich Road after "overwhelming concern" from residents and officials, saying the agency "would simply withdraw that proposal so that we could focus on solutions that worked." Member Peter J. Meier said the parking plan "just wasn't going to work where it was proposed." Mary Jane Mastrangelo said she still did not understand the full construction impacts on Sandwich Road and asked that Town Counsel review the May 15 letter before Town Administrator Marlene McCollem signs it. The board also fielded Recreation Committee recommendations for drainage work, ADA walkways and a redesigned parking area at the field.
